ABOUT

Wolniak Architects is a professional architectural consulting firm well versed in the issues associated with, the design and implementation of new as well as adaptive reuse and renovation projects. The expertise essential to fully evaluate the potentials of any given site has been developed over years of providing such services to independent local, regional, as well as, national clients.

Beginning in 1986 Wolniak Architects has provided services to private developers, government agencies, utilities, institutions and private industry developing a proficiency in the associated fields of interior design and site planning as well as engineerings disciplines that allow for the full service approach in developing a total designed environment.

 

Wolniak Architects, has produced automobile dealerships, renovated malls and strip centers for developers, as well as developed extensive prototypical retail sites in mall locations, throughout the continental United States.

 

Wolniak Architects additionally has deisgned medical/dental office buidlings, executed office renovations to the interiors of landmark office buildings in central New York and has completed renovations to both commercial and residential projects in Manhattan high rise structures.

 

From the design of an award winning indoor amusement center, to the exterior improvements  of a new Central New York Winery the present organization is structured as a project team concept. The continuity of design intent, with an emphasis on deisgn, offers innovation and invention that is maintained throughout the technical phases on through construction completion. The results are creative solutions to problems, meeting the requirements and concerns of even the most demanding clients.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Prior to forming  Wolniak Architects in 1986 Mr. Wolniak worked for professional consulting firms in both Syracuse, NY and in New York City as part of a design team developing a 50 story multi use residential tower on the upper east side of Manhattan.

In Central New York in the capacity as a project designer with Sargent  Webster Crenshaw & Folley, Mr. Wolniak gained expertise in the areas of ground transportation centers (CENTRA Greyhound Bus terminal) , school additions and teaching facilities for the U.S. Army (Alfred Almond School) (Mountain Warfare School in Jericho, VT.),and Lake Champlain Fish Hatchery and visitors center.  Additionally Mr. Wolniak  authored studies for the city of Syracuse, NY for the adaptive reuse of both the 300 Block South Salina Street and the Jefferson Street Armory.

Much of Wolniak Architects early expertise was in the area of tenant retail interiors of varying size, restaurant as well as adaptive reuse projects. Free standing physician/dental office buildings, renovation to Riverside Food court in Utica, NY for the Pyramid Companies have given Wolniak Architects its varied experience. In 1993 Wolniak Architects was approached to develop a 60,000 sf  indoor amusement center for which the firm won a national design award.  

Starting with Graham Dining Center renovation in 1994, began an ongoing relationship with Syracuse University that has continued through multiple dining center, snack bar, classroom, and lecture hall renovations as well as the Menschel Media Center renovation at Watson Hall on the University campus.

Wolniak Architects  has also been involved with projects at Colgate University, Hamilton, Ithaca, and Onondaga Community College.
