ADAPTIVE REUSE

NEIL & HYDE BUILDING
Syracuse, New York

An 1860’s vintage 5 story brick structure in the Armory Square District of Syracuse, New York that up until recently was used as a beauty supply store and warehouse facility now provides a home for a local telecommunications and internet provider  with 4 floors of offices and a restaurant / tavern at the ground floor.

At 3800 sf. per floor two new exit stairs were designed and subsequently constructed to bring the existing structure to comply with current fire code requirements and with new elevator and accessible toilet rooms make the structure compliant with the American Disabilities Act.

A complete removal of interior partitions the resultant of multiple interior renovations over the life of the building allowed for the redesign of the floors to accommodate the tenant's requirements and the restoration of the existing wood windows and brick facade.
